What is IMAP?
Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) is a widely-used email protocol that allows Datagrid to securely download your emails.
Extracting Data with IMAP
With IMAP, Datagrid users can extract a variety of information from their emails, including:
- Sender and recipient details
- Subject line details
- Timestamps
- Email body content
- Attachments

Configuring IMAP
Finding IMAP Settings For Outlook:
- Go to Settings> Mail > Sync Mail
- Then, toggle on "Let devices and apps use POP"
Finding IMAP Settings For G-Mail:
- Navigate to Settings > Select "See All Settings"
- Go to "Forwarding and POP/IMAP"
- Here, you'll find the IMAP Access settings and configuration instructions. Make sure to select "Enable IMAP" and click "Save Changes"
Once you are done with enabling IMAP for your email account(s), you are now ready to configure your Email Sync in Datagrid.
Important Settings to Remember:
Setting | Notes |
TLS | Necessary for encrypting your connection to ensure data privacy |
Port Number | Typically 99, however 143 can be used for unencrypted emails for IMAP |
Server Names | Vary by email provider but are essential for establishing a connection |
Troubleshooting Common IMAP Issues
- Authentication Errors: Please double-check your password, server settings and Port Number to ensure you are configuring IMAP correctly.
- Connection Failures: Verify internet connectivity and server status.
- Synchronization Issues: Ensure IMAP is enabled in your email settings and that IMAP is enabled by your Admin.
